Born in Holmfirth and presently living in Almondbury my family have a long history of farming the local landscape. Their livelihood relied on a deep and intimate understanding of the land and weather conditions.

In my work I feel a similar connection when I depict the captivating Yorkshire moorland with its constantly changing light and dramatic skies.I tend to paint landscapes that are meaningful to me.I walk along some of our many ancient pathways and discover hidden sacred places.

I originally studied drawing and traditional oil painting. To achieve the optical activity glazing is essential and therefore oil painting using the indirect method is perfect.

As a member of the Yorkshire Colourists I exhibit my work in venues and galleries around Yorkshire.
